Dom Hoskyns
Rewind to 2021 when the first Foil Assist launched and customer number one was Dominic Hoskyns. Living in the Middle East at the time, he used it to fuel his foil addiction in the lightest wind and smallest swell, quickly turning every day into a Foil Drive day. Dom became well known for sharing his sessions on YouTube and Instagram, posting tips and tutorials to help others get the most from their Foil Drives.
His passion naturally led to a close friendship with the Foil Drive team, which eventually earned him a trip to Australia and a job. Today, Dom leads Foil Drive Europe in The Netherlands and continues to spread the stoke.
Jan Paul Olijslager
Jan Paul grew up in the Netherlands and has lived and worked in more than 10 countries, making him the most widely travelled member of the team. His international business background brings valuable experience to Foil Drive Europe in his role as operations manager.
He is no stranger to water sports. He is an experienced competitive sailor and also enjoys diving, rowing and surfski. Although he is new to foiling, his determination makes up for any lack of experience. Like the rest of us, Jan Paul is now a full Foil Drive addict.
Andrea Di Paolo
Andrea was one of the first people to foil in Italy. Always ready to help others by sharing his experience and advice, he quickly became a respected figure in the Italian foiling community. He was also an early adopter of Foil Drive and spent countless hours showing how it helped improve his skills.
We saw a kindred spirit in Andrea and were thrilled to welcome him into our ambassador program. His passion, enthusiasm and constant support made it clear he belonged on the team. It was only a matter of time before he joined Foil Drive Europe full time, and we are lucky to have him.
Julia Castro
Julia first joined us as a team rider and is now the brilliant Foil Drive Europe Socials Creator. She travels in search of good weather and perfect water, and brings her professional water skills to everything she does. Originally from Fuerteventura, Julia is an incredible foiler, kiter and winger.
From Friendship to Foil Innovation
Ben Jamieson, our co-founder, has known Paul for over a decade. They met through their shared interest in RC aircraft and later collaborated in the drone industry. Their mutual love for outdoor sports quickly evolved into a shared enthusiasm for foiling with this retro-fit motor front and centre.
The local crew soon all wanted to get their hands on this new invention, that's when Paul and Ben decided there was something to explore.
The concept of "Hybrid Foiling" was officially launched to the world in 2021. It quickly spread and very soon riders from all over the world were asking how they could join in on the fun with this new toy we've all come to know as the "Foil Assist".
